Impotence (erectile dysfunction) is the failure to achieve either erection or ejaculation, or both. The ancient limbic system of the brain mainly controls erection, together with the hypothalamus, which is the headquarters of the autonomous or involuntary nervous system.
A National Health and Science Life Survey the sample of men was between the age of 18-59 years old, and 10.4 % of this survey group reported that they could not get or maintain an erection for at least a year, data which is almost identical to the survey done in Massachusetts.
